Networking Event - with Medway Youth Council
Networking Event - with Medway Youth Council
On 30th June 2025, we were proud to host a joint networking event with Medway Youth Council held at Dragon CoWorking. This event brought together professionals, youth organisations, and young people to reflect on the findings of the Medway Youth Council’s (MYC) February conference and to discuss how we can better support young people living, learning, and working in Medway.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the day. Special thanks go to the Medway Youth Council for their outstanding presentation and for facilitating workshops that sparked meaningful conversations. Their leadership and insight were central to the event’s impact.
The February MYC conference, attended by over 100 students from 20 schools across Medway, explored key themes around education, employment, and community life. MYC shared the headline findings and recommendations from that conference. Discussions at the event highlighted themes including:
- Improving how youth services and opportunities are publicised to young people, parents, and professionals.
- Enhancing collaboration between organisations to make the local youth offer more visible and accessible.
- Addressing concerns around public transport — particularly buses — with young people expressing worries about affordability, reliability, and safety.
- Exploring ways to make public spaces and transport routes safer, especially in areas like Chatham and Gillingham High Streets.
These topics generated lively discussion amongst attendees, with a shared commitment to taking action. Participants agreed that better signposting, co-created resources, and stronger partnerships are essential to ensuring young people know what’s available to them and feel safe accessing it.
The feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising the workshop format and the opportunity to network. We’re excited about the potential for future collaboration and look forward to continuing this important work together.
If you’d like to learn more about the Medway Youth Council’s conference report or get involved in future events, please visit the MYC website or reach out directly to the Youth Council.
Together, we can build a Medway where every young person feels informed, supported, and empowered.
